The term Pre ‘63 applies to large houses that were converted into individual units, or bedsits, without planning permission prior to the enactment of the 1963 Planning Act. These properties had been exempt from certain building regulations up until the introduction of new standards in 2013 designed to improve the living standards for those renting.
